Think
Like a Genius Wine
Master Review
Have
you ever wished you could think like a genius? I never really
gave it much thought. I always thought either you were extremely
gifted genetically, or you weren’t. I never considered
the fact that even if a person is not technically a genius,
that doesn’t mean they couldn’t benefit from
learning how to think like a genius.
A
new approach to tasting wine was presented to me and I was
intrigued from the beginning. The course is called
Think like a Genius Wine Master.
Its
goal was to take an extremely adept wine taster, in this
case Tim Gaiser, a Master Somellier (one of less than
200 people in the entire world with this prestigious title)
and deconstruct his very own method of tasting wine and
explain exactly what is going on in his mind.
Then
they summarized their findings and created a course that
anyone can follow that should greatly speed up your ability
to taste wine just like the pros do.
But
the real question is…
Does
It Really Work?
Well
first let’s look at the course itself.
With
a combination of video instruction from the included DVD
and an illustrated guidebook for following up with more
detail, the course claims it will help you to:
- Easily
identify and describe flavors and aromas
-
Evaluate the age, quality, and complexity of any wine
- Rapidly
improve your own smelling and tasting ability
- Impress
your friends and colleagues
- Savor
each glass of wine like never before
The
Learn
to Think like a Genius course sets out to demystify
the art and science of tasting wine and make it easy enough
that anyone with the desire to practice can see dramatic
results.
While
not overly comprehensive, the video and guidebook can easily
be consumed in one sitting. That is the way it is supposed
be my friend! Anyone can take a concept and complicate it
to the point of turning away all but the most snobbish of
types. The real genius is in making what should be simple,
well… simple!
I
personally love the unpretentious and straight forward style
that makes tasting wine a fun and repeatable process. Much
of the information is basic wine knowledge, but there are
many concepts and strategies that will benefit even the
most advanced wine lovers.
Now
just taking the course won’t instantly make you a
wine expert, but if you practice identifying your smells
and creating baselines for comparisons, I truly believe
you will gain the benefits claimed.
In
fact, I am so sold on the process, that I have adopted the
strategies for myself and will be tasting beverages in a
new way from now on.
Watch
the video first and then go through the guidebook as recommended.
Then watch the video again to help reinforce the process.
That method worked great for me.
The
course was such a fresh take on the subject that I had to
try their other courses as well. I think the team of Taryn
Voget and Tim Hallbom has a real winner of a concept with
their theme of identifying and systemizing the process of
thinking like a genius.
In
conclusion, I give the
Think like a Genius Wine Master course my highest and
unreserved recommendation. Get a copy for yourself or give
one to the wine lover who has everything else.
Cheers!
