OTHER NOTABLE ITALIAN WINES

READING BETWEEN THE WINES:

Italian vineyards are plump with an uncountable assortment of red and white varietals. However, there are a few more in the cellar we don’t want to overlook. A few of the other mentionable appellations in Italy are Abruzzo, Friuli-Venezia Guilia, Umbria, and Veneto.

THE GRAPES

MORE ITALIAN REDS:

Montepulciano

The Montepulciano is proud to be an Italian. This grape bestows medium-body Abruzzi reds with structure, rich color, and rosy fragrances.

Corvina

This grape produces a wine intense in ruby color and in rich fruit flavors.

MORE ITALIAN WHITES:

Pinot Grigio

While Americans love their Chardonnays, the Italians slurp on Pinot Grigio wines. The pinkish grape produces a golden, medium-bodied wine with floral scents.

Trebbiano

In France, this grape goes by the alias Ugni Blanc, but in Italy, it’s the Trebbiano. Famous for its brandies and Cognacs, it also makes a pleasant dry and fruity white when blended with other grapes.
